queensland Breakfast creek for a land based angler?

We are loking to wet a line in the brisbane river, as we are without a boat we have had the breakfast creek area sugested to us , does anyone have any advice for this are ie bait, lures, tackle and fish type we should target other than catfish or can you suggest an alternative location?

Mouth of breakfast creek from either Newstead park side or at Camerons rocks is worth having a fish. Would not bother any further upstream.

Yes definately catfish, but stand a chance of a bream or cod as well.

You can try and get some livies from the pontoon at Newstead, and throw them out at the mouth of brekkie creek.

At least if you get a ctafish that way it will be a semi decent sized one......

Interesting thread... Out of boredom I went for a float downstream in Brecky Creek in my canoe the other week putting casts in around all the old moored yachts there.. Got one baby Bream on a gold sx 40 but there seems to be some likely fish holding structure in there.. Big train bridges with pilons and eddies, plenty of old moored boats and acouple of rock bars.. Looks worth a cod mission come the warmer weather but it might be a total waste as Im with Feral - the place looks like abit of a butthole..

Personally hunter I'd fish where Brecky Creek meets Newstead Park with some fresh fish fillets.

I used to have fun fishing bread under a float for mullet around the bridge on Kelvin Grove Rd years ago.
