sold Overhead rod wanted

Hi, I'm looking for a overhead rod Wich I can cast for my abu Garcia gt325 level wind overhead reel that is no longer then 7ft I will be using 40 to 50 lb braid price range from $50 to $80 and I live in caboolture but can come pick it up from northen brisbane to sunshine coast

I'm hardly an expert at casting overhead reels but even with the best 7' overhead casting rod and that reel and 50lb braid cating distance will be so poor that you could throw your bait further.

what exactly do you want

a rod to suit that reel would not be a practical casting tool

as the reel is not a suitable caster really

or are you just trying to get a large shark rig over the side

i have one of those reels on a 6ft power tip and with just a sinker i can get about 35 metres with it if it was a complete rig it would be far less

imo you dont need 50lb braid i use 20 and 15lb for targeting bullies and you could probably go up to 30 but yer it wont cast well with 50lb braid

up the barra dams i cast 50lb braid fine with a nice size lure on it. a shark rig will have good weight if you use a nice size livie. 7 ft 30lb rod with a bit of tip flex will give you enough casting distance required. it will require many casts to get the hang of it but with practice any o/h reel that size can be cast. just a matter of setting the spool tension to match the weight.
