Good luck with it but it really is a resources and time issue. They have huge areas to police and not enough people to do it. Getting the word to them though is good and they should blitz the place asap.

I remember my mum telling me that when they where kids the used to catch huge numbers of big whiting and dart over at woorim on Bribie Is. It was the mentality they had. I tell her yeah.... and now we have none.... THANKS !!!

Exaggerating a bit but there are some people oblivious to the need to only take what you needna dbag limits and then there are the bastards that just don't give a rip.

Cheers

I've been following everybody's comments on the 'land-based long liners' at the sandpumping jetty with growing disbelief. Honestly, I didn't think such behaviour existed here. Where do these people come from? (Probably NSW  ) I've been to Shorncliffe jetty a few times and while there are usually plenty of Asians fishing there, the majority are well behaved. An elderly gentleman was even telling the overseas students about limits on crabs and fish.

I'm no hard-nose stickler for rules. If I see people keep the odd slightly undersized fish, I'm not going to tell them off. Having seen the horrible waste of estuary prawn trawling and its banning at a place where I used to fish very regularly, I know how quickly fish stocks can rebound, especially bream.

However I have my doubts as to whether raising the issue with politicians will solve anything. In fact, I suspect that the cure, if any, may be worse than the disease. Don't forget this government is in bed with the Socialist Watermelons (Red Inside Green Outside aka Greens) so don't give them an excuse to lick their lips at the thought of further revenue raising because you and I both know that's what cash-strapped governments with non-core promises always end up doing.

By all means, encourage the authorities to bust the white bucket collectors at the sandpumping jetty. Good riddance to obnoxious anglers who have no skill to catch a decent fish, I say. It's not exactly a mile long beach where there are plenty of exits and entrances so fisheries should have no excuse not to crack down on them.
