Part of the WZ news report for the up coming week of weather.

During this week, an upper trough system, combined with a moist easterly flow and two slow moving surface troughs, one offshore, is expected to produce widespread rain and thunderstorms across Queensland and eastern New South Wales, resulting in a major rain event, certainly the most significant of the summer.

Widespread seven-day totals in excess of 200 mm are expected over southeast Queensland and northeast New South Wales and totals of 100 mm plus are indicated over inland parts of Queensland.

Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sunshine will be heavily affected, with flooding likely for the coastal rivers and streams in the area. The Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast areas of New South Wales will also be affected, with significant falls also extending as far south as the Hunter and Sydney Metropolitan area. A flood watch for possible moderate flooding is now in place for the Bellinger, Macleay and Hastings River Valleys of New South Wales.

Apparently this will be the last of heavy rain fall for a long time

hopefully :) ... the guy on the weather channel is starting to talk up the fact that the monsoon trough is dropping, lower south and the possibility of cyclonic activity kicking up in the Coral Sea...

been quite awhile since a cyclone has come down the coast and sat as a rain depression off Fraser or Moreton
