Fraser Trip

Just had a great holiday up at Fraser Island to celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary.

Day 1

Brisbane to Rainbow Beach for breakfast and refuel .

Rainbow Beach to Inskip point to air down tyres and for the barge trip to Hook point .

Drive up beach from Hook Point to Dilli Village to exit to Lakes Drive .

Dilli Village to Lake Boomanjin to Lake Benaroon to Lake Birrabeen to Central Station to Lake McKenzie to Eurong Resort 

Check in  Dinner at Resort.

Day 2 

Eurong to Poyungan Rocks to Yidney Rocks to Happy Valley to Maheno Wreck to The Whale Carcass to The Pinnacles to Red Canyon Indian Head for lunch  to Champagne Pools .

Return to Eurong for dinner.

Day3 

Eurong  to Indian Head to Waddy Point to Ngkala Rocks to Orchid Beach Pub to Waddy Point for Lunch.

Return to Eurong to for dinner .

Day 4 

Eurong to Elli Creek to Sand Blow to Woralie Creek  / Coongul Creek /Bowarrady Creek .

Spend day parked up just north of Woralie Creek relaxing on beach for lunch and afternoon tea. 

 

Return to Eurong

Day 5

Breakfast at Eurong Bakery 

Check out of resort  at 10am

Drive down beach to barge .

Car Wash at Rainbow Beach 

Lunch

Refuel 1/2 between Rainbow beach and Gympie

Drive back to Brisbane

Nice getaway, Neil. The start of Day 5 was done the right way at the Eurong Bakery. Best fresh cream doughnuts in the country !!

It doesn't look like it was too busy, either. That's another win.

Yes we had a donut and thick shake at the bakery .

My wife opted for a  hundreds and thousands donut / chocolate milk shake  combo ,where as I went for the more traditional jam donut and lime thick shake. We also took up on the resorts deal for a free return barge fare and a bucket of beers on arrival.
I’ve attached a photo of Lake Birraween ,it was very cloudy when the photo was taken but  it’s very similar to Lake Mackenzie  with the clear blue water ,but is a lot less known to the tourists. We found some interesting insect eating plants  called Sundews around its
 foreshore .

If my body doesn’t give out, I’m looking forward to trying on getting back up there maybe  a little later in the year,  after our in question  Vanuatu trip and annual 1770 fishing trip.
We’re finding Retirement very difficult !

Living your best life, even though retirement is so tough... haha  I'm no longer a drinker, however those pizza's look pretty damn good.

I like to go to those lakes that start with B as well, to avoid Bondi, oops, I mean Lake Mackenzie.

The tailor should be very thick this year at Fraser, if the numbers in the river, and in the Rainbow channel today, are any guide.

Nice .  Well done and congratulations. Given that there was not a fish or fishing rod in any of the wonderful pictures, does that mean you are working on a semi leave pass and being able to pack a rod for number 40?

Hi Neil, congrats on your anniversary, you seem to be enjoying your selves, what's the saying 'it's a hard life but someone has to do it, so enjoy it. It won't take long to settle in to retirement!
