All about Fishing Knots

Wanted to see what you all think about the best knot for a Gamakatsu Gangster Straight Eye Hook  that looks something like this...

The snell knots below are all somewhat different and i am thinking the Power Snell? is the best option?

Dad used to snell hooks that had a bent eye as the line could go straight thru the eye.

The bend in the line going thru a straight eye may make a weak point.

Snells are basically required for using circle hooks...it forces the circle hook to latch into the jaw hinge better because the hook is kinked over with the line entering the straight eye from the hook side.

Tie a snell to a circle and tie a uni knot or anything else to a circle and pull the leader through the crook of your thumb...you will see the snell puts the point into the crook more easily than a uni knot tied circle hook.

The down side with all snell knots is the leader is exposed to the sharp edge of the eye ...you can use a short piece of plastic tube over the line to take the chafe...

I don't like them on striat hooks, only hooks with a bent eye.

On Strait hooks like that, I don't go through the eye, I tie it externally to keep the line Strait.
