Where to buy Yabbies to stock as dam?

Hello, recently I’ve been looking to stock a dam with yabbies, not totally sure on the numbers but I recon I’ll need around 200 yabbies. I’m located in the Cedar Creek area (near Brisbane)  and I’ve been struggling to find somewhere to buy them from. I would love some recommendations on where to find yabbies. I’m fine if they have to be shipped as long as the shipping isn’t too outrages.

I don't know of anywhere that sells crayfish/yabbies that aren't Redclaw. It is illegal to stock your dam with Redclaw in SEQ.

Best bet would be to try to get some from your local creek in shrimp traps. They will breed quickly in a dam with plenty of vegetation to eat.

You could try an aquarium shop, but they will likely be Redclaw as well, but it can't hurt to ask.

Doubt if there any blueclaw available commercially used to be plenty in bore drains and rivers on western downs 60 years ago but suspect they have been displaced by redclaw. I'd be dropping a few pots in the billabongs in your area...they were common there in the 80's.

Be careful to not take too many breeders from the local areas though.
