Redcliffe Fishing

All of the points along the foreshore from Woody Point to Scarborough have daily visits by snapper to feed.

Your challenge is to present a bait at one of the reefy points at the time they snapper are there and when they want to eat your bait......sounds like a tall order and it is, it takes a lot of hours at the right times to get them with confidence land based.

Snapper will eat almost anything, but they will not eat a scungy piece of bait. Make sure it is fresh and well presented. Squid, winter whiting heads whiting pieces, yellowtail and largish prawns are seldom refused. Keep your baits to about the size of your finger for best results, you want them to swallow it easily rather than having to chew pieces off it to swallow.

15lb main line, 15 or 20lb FC leader and minimal weight is the go, Redcliffe has very little run north of Scotts Point.

7pm to 10pm or 1 hour before first light to sunup is the best times. The snapper move away from the shore a bit during the day.

Fishing from the boat I have got many snapper within casting distance from the shore here: https://www.google.com.au/maps/place/27°13'23.6"S+153°06'56.9"E/@-27.223214,153.1151673,381m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m4!3m3!8m2!3d-27.223214!4d153.115811?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI0MTAxNi4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D

Look for a sand patch to land your bait onto.

Also of note, snapper eat hard body lures well, especially at night or low light conditions. Walking that bank at night spinning a 75mm deep diving minnow would produce snapper too.

Something like this: https://www.bcf.com.au/p/killalure-flatz-rat-2-hard-body-lure-10ft/M562197.html?dwvar_M562197_color=Splice&cgid=BCF035005#start=54

Colour does not matter at night
