  1. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, hey Darren? Lovely snap in the first video, but the second video doesn’t play on my iPad? Admittedly it is an old iPad Air running an out of date iOS. So I will just assume it is you and your boy doing what you do best - braining the big Bay snapper.
  2. Best wishes, Ray. Party time for SEQ bass. Seriously, though, I hope you have a quick recovery.
  3. Maximum in Brisbane today was 12.3. Unbelievable! Send that sunshine down here please @Angry51
  4. Knowing how much you love ski lice @benno573, I can imagine you had a different purpose for the rope in mind........
  5. I’ve still got that ice fishing rod. Might come in handy if it doesn’t warm up soon.
  6. All of the above. Agree with @AUS-BNE-FISHO about them being less effective on smaller fish, but work well on the bigger varieties. Especially good with a baitrunner style reel. @Junky, I know what you mean about circle hooks destroying your pilchards but not sure how an Alvey makes a mess of your pillie? Also, use a snell knot when tying them on. I think I got that tip from @Allnighter. It makes the circle hook roll better. Circle hooks are good for releasing fish as well since the fish are almost always caught in the corner of the mouth.
  7. You have to happy with a day like that, @ellicat and @Kat. The photo is probably a collector’s item - very rare to see a photo of Brian with no durrie hanging out the mouth.
  8. @Allnighter, you are the Bay snapper king. And yet again, you prove that you don’t need a chop on the water, or to get up at stupid o’clock to catch good fish. Nice work, Darren.

    NRL 2022

I dropped one of the in-laws off at the airport this arvo, right beside the Qld team who just got off their bus. They all looked pretty happy so I am taking that as a good omen. Stand by for an increase in Blues niggle in SOO 2. Shame they changed the rules a few years ago to protect Paul Gallen after he tried (unsuccessfully) to bash Nate Myles or we could be watching a good old-fashioned biffo this game. Go QUEENSLAND!
  10. That is a really good price. If you are buying 2 lithium batteries, make sure you get good advice about which brand to get because I don’t think all brands can be series linked?
  11. https://www.theboatwarehouse.com.au/electric-trolling-motors/minn-kota-motors/minn-kota-riptide-terrova-with-advanced-ipilot-saltwater-bow-mount/?sku=MNK-601605&gclid=CjwKCAjw-8qVBhANEiwAfjXLrkF9re25Eh7d3mvbM3BJCteVVqFmbwSA_HenIfAtjxBTm3IgJCxKdhoCl_oQAvD_BwE Here is a 55lb 60” shaft for $3592.50. I am not sure how the “lift assist” works? I don’t think that mine has it, but it might be a nice compromise between totally manual and auto-stow. Also, to @Hweebe‘s point about Anderson plugs, if you fit them between the motor and the battery you can easily plug in the charger and you also don’t need an isolation switch. Happy to help you install it when you get around to it.
  12. Hope the weather holds for all you taxpayers. I haven’t had a chance to get out this week so hoping that the weather can hold into next week. Good luck @Hweebeand anyone else who can get out this weekend. Deep breathing may be required at the ramp.
  13. Nice stuff, @Kat. Pretty obvious that you are now totally addicted to fishing.
  14. They should also have a good idea about the best mounting position on your Quinny. Hopefully supply won’t be an issue but I wouldn’t be surprised if you had to wait for it.
  15. You’re on a roll now, Brian. Long day in those really tough looking conditions
  16. We beached my father-in-law’s 19 foot Haines on one of the million sandbanks in the Great Sandy Straits many years ago. Trying to beat the falling tide back to Urangan late afternoon with the sun reflecting off the water making it impossible to pick the channels (no GPS around in those days). The FIL went for a snooze in the cabin while I went exploring. When the tide turned I noticed heaps of big whiting in the shallow gutters that were forming and cleaned up while waiting for enough water to float us again. We didn’t get home until after 10pm, and with no mobile phones in those days I thought the wife and MIL would be frantic. Luckily one of the old boy’s mates had motored past us and recognised the boat. He dropped into the house and let them know not to expect us home any time soon.
  17. Let’s just call it a perfect release. You gotta love it when a plan comes together.
  18. Cheers to you @Junky. Really enjoyed the day today. Loved your boat, your company and your generosity. The time just flew by today even if the fishing was slow. We will brain them next time, Damo.
  19. Looks like a river perch to me. If the inside of the mouth is yellow or orange it is a perch. Lots of people eat them, but I have never tried them.
  20. @ellicat, I guess you are glad I couldn’t make it for the Pin trip today.
  21. I hope you didn’t tire him out too much, @Allnighter. He still has 80 minutes of rugby league to play tonight. Congrats Brian, that is a helluva way to break the drought. I think I see a new aviator coming.
  22. Unlucky Hamish. There must be so many rods and reels on the bottom of waterways. I know I have pulled up at least 2 from Moreton Bay. Fathers Day is less than 3 months away now. If I was you I would be working on a present right now for your Dad. He certainly looks after you!
