  1. Thanks @Nog. I was thinking I might go a bit heavier next time to get them to the boat faster. Love that first run!
  2. Thanks for another great day out @ellicat. Lots of action and some nice table fish to top it off. It would have been great to get at least one of the tuna into the boat, but great fun anyway.
  3. Tasty haul there @Allnighter. Much cr@p in the water?
  4. Nice report, @AUS-BNE-FISHO. Good to see you back on the horse, and getting amongst the threadies again.

Yep, looking like another long season for us Broncos fans. They weren’t helped by some of the refereeing calls, but they were pretty awful. They had that same lazy, disinterested sort of attitude that we have seen over the last few seasons. Hard to pick a wooden spoon winner but on form, the Broncos, the Tigers and the Titans look like they are contenders.

No good news in that game for Titans fans except the 2 points. That second half capitulation against the Raiders last week seems to have drained the Titans of any form. Some of the worst attack ever by both teams. And some of the worst refereeing I’ve seen for a while as well, but the refs were probably lulled into a trance by the boring attack and ridiculous errors. Let’s hope the standard lifts for the rest of the weekend.
  8. Blowing 17 knots + out there this morning so glad we didn’t go @tugger.
  9. Had planned a Prawnin expedition tomorrow with another member but can’t make it now. Probably a good thing after the downpour in the last 24 hours. Hope that this weather settles over the next month or two. We are due for a decent run of better weather and cleaner water.
  10. Looks like the river is open for boating again after the flood.
  11. Glad to see you finally got out for a fish @benno573 and nice to know there are still a few fish hanging around the system.
  12. I was walking around Kangaroo Point cliffs area on Wednesday and the amount of debris still making its way downstream is significant. All sorts of stuff from logs to house doors to plastic cr@p. Saw quite a few fish belly up as well. It is going to take more than a few tides for all of that to work its way out of the system, so those beaches will cop it for a while yet. Be careful if you are boating- some pretty big logs just under the surface.

If both teams play like they did last week, the broncs should win by 13+. The dogs were very lucky to scrape home against the cows, and the broncos played with unusual grit and determination. Reynolds will add game management and better 5th tackle options so they should improve over last week’s efforts.
  14. I have a 4.4 metre Sea Jay Territory so not a lot bigger than the Busta. It has a 55lb Minn Kota Riptide Powerdrive with the 54inch shaft (longest in that motor). This setup holds me in place using spotlock in most situations but it will still cavitate a little in a decent chop or some boat wake, so I would definitely recommend the longer shaft rather than the 48” which is a little cheaper.
  15. Do you get an itemised invoice, Brian? My outboard service invoice tells me everything they are checking/replacing, just like the invoice you get from a car service. If it is not on that list, then you will have to ask the question at the next service.

Saved by the Dragons @ellicat. I had the misfortune to watch most of that game. It was like watching the 2020 Broncos play the 2021 Broncos. Both teams did their best to lose.

Not sure how Eric Grothe snuck into the team ahead of Brent Tate

Tips are in. Couldn’t help myself and went all the Qld teams. Still, the early rounds are always prone to upsets so who knows.
  19. Thanks @Angry51 and @GregOug. I have both those thoughts competing in my brain lately. I have an appointment with the financial advisor next week so will raise it with him. Maybe with the war, floods, Warnie etc I may not have the money to take any options and will have to get Hamish and his Dad to set me up with a treadlie and tow bar.
  20. Holy catfish, @AUS-BNE-FISHO, how long did it take to write that report? I got halfway through and decided that I need to put together a reading plan to get through the other half over the next week or so. So good to see you boys out there doing what you love and doing it so well. You really have the river nailed now Hamish!
  21. Surely your school would have gone under in the flood, Hamish? Are you on-line learning now?
  22. Might be the same guy that junky pm’d me about this morning. Thanks for the advice everyone.
  23. If only cricket had immortals, the King might still be with us. There was only and will ever be only one Warnie. Even if he did some ******** things at times, he was always just Warnie. We will miss him.
