  1. Looks like a nice day out, Hamish, even if the bigger fish didn’t com3 out to play. Most amazing thing about that report is @GregOug doing a 4am start. @Cavvy, you should definitely be in the running for Father of the Yeat.
  2. @Ed. There is more info here https://parksaustralia.gov.au/marine/iot/process/ A quick look over the info tells us that the consultation phase is over. Looks like the local communities will still have access for their usual activities so @Angry51 is probably on the money about trying to protect the area from foreign fishing boats.
  3. Absolute thumpers! Well done as usual, McPhees..
  4. Well done @Kat Hard to beat a feed of fresh whiting. If the fish are chasing the bait it might be a top spot to try a popper or top water lure for some extra excitement.
  5. Nice work as usual, Hamish. If you think your crab pots are being carried by the current, try putting a brick or a rock in them to make them heavier, and look for them around change of the tide when the floats are more likely to be on the surface. I have never seen a Morwong caught that far up the river.
  6. That’s the way I read it @Gad. It could be made simpler by saying “a maximum combined total of 6 hooks per individual” or similar, to stop people thinking they might be able to have 3 lines with 6 hooks on each line.
  7. I think the definition of a set line is one where you tie a line to a fixed object and leave it there, which is illegal because you must be present at all times. So a deep drop line would not be a set line in that context.
  8. Like a lot of people lately, I have had a bit of spare time. I reckon I have seen most of the YouTube videos relating to salt water fishing in SE Qld. A number of them have featured deep dropping with electric reels. The rigs used generally have multiple hooks, and I have seen a few comments criticising them for breaking the rules. I checked the rules and they are a bit ambiguous: Fishing lines Freshwater No more than six fishing lines should be used alone or combined. A set fishing line must not be used. A set fishing line must not be used as a cross-line. Only one hook, artificial fly, bait jig or lure can be attached to a line. You can’t be more than 50m away from any of your fishing lines. Tidal water Up to three fishing lines are permitted consisting of a total of six hooks. An artificial fly, lure, bait jig or gang hook is considered equal to one hook. A cross line, drum line, free-floating line or set line is not included as a fishing line. You must be present with the line at all times. I am not likely to take up fishing with an electric but just interested in the rules re number of hooks. I interpret the above to mean that each fisher on a boat can fish with up to 6 hooks, which could be 3 lines with 2 hooks or 1 line with 6 hooks. Have I got that right?
  9. Nice catch @Kat. I reckon some of us might call it for 47cm. Then again, some of us might call it 50+ Glad you got your fix.
  10. I think they call them red snapper. Over there jacks are what we call trevally.
  11. I bet there are still gaps in that collection!
  12. Great video and even better project! Blows me away to see how many people are keen to support this work and how far it has come in just a few years. All for the fish!
  13. I don’t think it takes much effort to sell a boat, fourby or caravan at the moment, judging by some of the crazy prices we are seeing. A real sellers’ market. Good luck with the search @zzviper.
  14. Surely they wouldn’t all go out and buy a one tooth denture? Could it be a banjo?
  15. You certainly are dedicated Ray. Amazing how much water can get into an open boat in heavy rain. What size pump do you have there?
  16. What is the reset routine, Ray? Just asking in case I need to do it sometime.
  17. Apparently it was very bad luck a few centuries ago. The story goes that when the Europeans traders first arrived in the South Pacific they began transporting tropical fruits in their wooden Luggers. The bananas give off a gas and also rot quickly, and the boat’s timber hull would rot and down she goes. It sure if they have the same effect on aluminium or fibreglass, but there you go.
  18. Do Southsiders need to fly across the river, be fully vaxxed and have a negative PCR test to attend this event?
  19. That is a lot of bass, @Dinodadog. The paddle board might have been one of those electrofoil surfboards. They look amazing.
  20. Depending on timing, I might be a late starter but put me down for the mighty Southsiders, please @christophagus. Thanks for organising again.
