  1. Nah Hamish, just my little April Fool’s Day fun. I think there would be a riot if that happened. Happy Easter everyone.
  2. Didn’t you hear? The lifting of the lockdown was just Anastasia having a little April Fool’s Day fun!

Same way I could tip the Cowboys to beat anyone anywhere. Tipping with the heart is good for the soul. I am just grateful the NRL hasn’t introduced the fourth Qld team yet.

I can see another dismal round coming up for me and any other idiot that insists on tipping the 3 Qld teams. Having said that, the Broncos sit above the Storm on the ladder right now.
  5. Good to see you getting amongst them @Simo68. Nice post and some good photos.
  6. Better not leave it too long Ray. Those bass at NPD will be getting very complacent by now.
  7. @Jono4500, do they have a dingo box at that campsite? Looks like a nice spot. If the wind got up and you couldn’t paddle back to the mainland, could you just drag your kayak onto the barge?
  8. Sorry @Breaming with bro, but it is the other way around. The fresh sits on top of the salt water because saltwater is more dense than fresh water, which is why fish, prawns and crabs will mostly move to the deeper holes.
  9. Well I got a date on Friday night out of it, so it ain’t all bad. @Breaming with bro and anyone else with time on their hands, if you want to know more about how ads seem to pop up after you talk about stuff, listen to a podcast by Reply All called “Is Facebook spying on you”. It is a few years old now but very illuminating and just a little scary. Jury was out on the actual use of microphones though. It doesn’t pay to be too paranoid but good to always to Be careful online. Thanks @AFO for the great job you do in keeping the site running smoothly.
  10. A couple of real stockers there @Meeuwissen. You can’t say that charter wasn’t value for money! Looks like you are having a great trip north. Oh, and happy 30th birthday! Living the dream.

Yep, it is going to be a long year for us Qld diehards @Drop Bear. I have the added complication that I can’t tip the Sharks (the whole peptides, Gallen, FifIta, Flanagan thing). The Broncos showed plenty of promise and would have had a different second half with a full complement. The Titans looked like they were all introduced to each other right before kick off, but will improve. The Cowboys on the other hand were just aweful and heading for the spoon if they don’t do something fast. Great to see the footy back though.
  12. Nice fish, nice photos and nice report, Mark. You look like you might be enjoying that beer and swim.
  13. @GregOug don’t worry about an app. Just bookmark the website. No fees that way.
  14. Gee @GregOug, I had a look at a video of those Vision maps. So many new shiny things to play with. No excuses now - that card looks like it will do everything but fillet the fish for you. Although with so many features to try, you may never actually get time to cast a line.
  15. Ok, done that now. Bilge only = 12.2v Nav lights only = 12.7v Live bait pump only =12.2v All on together = 11.8v
  16. I have the same on my maps. I think Garmin got it wrong. It also shows it a a no anchoring zone, no doubt because of shipping movements in that area, which is why it maybe got it confused. It certainly doesn’t show on any marine park maps that I have seen.
  17. @GregOug Try settings>system>simulator Sorry, can’t help with the card question. What extra does the vision maps give you?
  18. Thanks Huy. Will have a look tomorrow.
  19. Yes @kmcrosby78, I will be using my tried and tested formula of tipping the Qld teams every week. It has worked so well for me in the last couple of seasons (especially the broncos). Only an hour until it kicks off again. Bring it on!
  20. Ok @Hweebe. I turned on the bilge, the live bait pump and the Nav lights and took the readings again. Battery stayed at 12.9v but the sounder cradle reading dropped to 11.8v, so I am losing about 1 volt under load. Is that normal?
  21. Spot on @Hweebe. I checked the voltage at the battery terminals (12.9v) and then at the cradle (12.9v). Then I plugged in the head unit and the display said 11.8v. So at least I know that I am not losing voltage between the battery and the unit. Maybe the voltmeter on the unit reads low? Or running the unit drops the voltage. Either way not much I can do except know that the battery is not low. Thanks again for your help.
  22. Harry Grant will be good but there is only one Cam Smith.
  23. It is a Garmin 95sv. No cigarette outlet on the boat. The unit plugs into a cradle and it is a multi pin type plug and socket. Thanks for helping!
  24. More good questions @Hweebe. I have only checked at the battery because the rest of the wiring is sealed and is what came with the unit. I have made sure the battery connections are clean and that the fittings are tight inside the switch box. It never gives a low voltage alarm and I always charge the battery between trips so I guess as long as it works I should leave well enough alone. Marine electronics is yet another of my many weaknesses. These forums are great for improving knowledge on these sort of things so I am open to any thoughts. Thanks for your input.
