  1. It will be cool @ellicat. When I said BoM I was talking about MetEye and it is looking great.
  2. Interesting. Both BoM and WillyWeather have got great forecasts for the Bay this weekend. Seabreeze must be forecasting for offshore? It is still only Tuesday so things might change by Saturday. That Seabreeze forecast is classic example of what is known as “bosses’ weather”. It used to frustrate the hell out of me when I was still working.

    Nrl 2020

Bring it on!!! Can’t wait to be watching 16 hours of NRL every week again. I just hope that it all goes well and shuts up all those naysayers who have been deathriding the kick off since it was first announced.
  4. Got some lessons from last week to apply, so pick me please @Drop Bear.
  5. Good for you @AUS-BNE-FISHO. Hamish, you are showing some of us older blokes how it is done. You get an A+ for perseverance and dedication. Nice work. And you are keeping good records so it could be a science project for school. Not to mention how your English expression is getting a workout. We have seen a lot of young fellas come on and off this site over the years. I thought they were all super keen, but I think you have them whipped.
  6. If you don’t have any luck locally, check out some less expensive options here: http://www.reeltackle.com.au/shops/reeltackle/products/Large_Spool_Line_Dispenser-28819-331.html That online store is run by one of the members here ( @aussie123) and the quality is always high.
  7. That’s it, Hamish. You must be running out of photos too?
  8. Getting warmer, north of Burrum Heads, but south of Barbara.
  9. Not far from Bundy. Hamish, don’t neglect your schoolwork!
  10. Ok, my last go at this (running out of photos)
  11. One thing for sure is that the next time I am fishing for mackerel I will make sure that I take the laminated fish ID sheet that I have in my boat and will check each fish. Thanks for your input everyone, I guess it really is “back to schoolies” for me. I have learned a few things from this topic and look forward to putting them into practice next trip. Stay tuned.
  12. The new pontoon at Dutton Park beside the green bridge.
  13. @jon I can see what you mean when I look at the photo but they were all schoolies when they came into the boat.
  14. Pretty sure we would have hit our bag (5 each) if we had more pillies.
  15. Mr @Drop Bear and I went in search of a feed of calamari today. We left Wynnum in Robbie’s boat around dawn and motored across the Bay in pretty good conditions just as the sun came up over The horizon. Another good start to the day, not too cold and not a lot of breeze. The plan was to hit an area where @Drop Bear has been having some success. After a nice run we arrived and started a drift. The squid were playing hide and seek, and they were better at hiding than we were at seeking. So much so that we didn’t didn’t see a single tentacle. @Drop Bear decided to float a pillie out the back under a float, and it wasn’t long before the float took off and after a short fight a nice school Mack was in the esky. So plan A quickly became plan B and we had a fun little session, pulling in 8 before the small packet of pillies ran out. We did get a couple on hard bodies as well, but the bait was the most successful. The wind was stronger than expected and once the tide turned we had wind against tide making for less than ideal planing. We had always planned to do some trolling of spoons on paravanes for Mack’s, so we trolled all the way back to just off St Helena. Robbie did his best to dethrone @kmcrosby78 as the Grinner King of Moreton Bay, catching several on the troll, but we didn’t see another schoolies. We did a bit of sounding around east of St Helena and dropped a few baits (just fillets of whiptails we caught earlier) on some promising territory outside the green zone. We had bites, but the only fish landed was a couple of small squire. Time to head home after another great day on Moreton Bay. Here is dinner on the cleaning table. Thanks again, Robbie. It is great to be back fishing with mates again.
  16. It was a great day on the Bay. Plenty of action to keep us motivated and a healthy esky for a busy day. @AUS-BNE-FISHO, we had a mix of plastics and quality bait (prawns, mullet, squid, pilchards from Mr Bait) and some leftover cast net scrap that @benno573 had lying around. Had the cod last night and it was delicious as usual.
  17. Very kind offer @GregOug. Let me think about it tonight and I will let you know tomorrow morning.
  18. Friday does look good @GregOug. I will give you a wave if I see you go past.
  19. Sorry all, I thought I had already responded. Correct Brian, so back to you.
