Not many trees left on the reefs these days Hamish. They all got waterlogged and died. Still, worth a try I suppose.

I never had a brother. Just 5 sisters. No one to back me up. So you just have to back up occasionally. Lol.
  8. Hey Kat. He didn’t tell me to buy any rod. He just said a 10’ 6” rod is ideal for the type of fishing he was showing me. I already had an old 10’ 6” Wilson Bream Reaper which is my favourite rod ever. I just decided to buy a second rod for other people to use on my boat. I bought the live fibre because of the recommendations of others on here. Hi Junky, My mate is not a ‘lad’. He is in his forties. And he knew I was fishing from a boat because I followed him out in my boat to the spot he showed me. He is also a very experienced fisherman who gives fishing talks at boat shows, fishing club meetings etc. And after five minutes of advice on rod, reels, tackle, bait, method etc to use I caught more grassies in an hour or two than I have in the rest of my life! Anyway, no biggie. Thanks for the input. It is much appreciated. cheers Greg

Sounds like you and your brother both got the ‘what the hell, let’s do it’ genes.
  10. Hi Kat and Junky, He did explain it to me. The use of a 10’ 6” rod is for a specific type of fishing from a boat. It is not for general everyday use. It is only for fishing in shallow water, for specific species of fish. cheers Greg
  11. Lake? A lake! You were lucky. We used to live in a shoebox.
  12. Well, when you think about it, sand is what’s mostly found on ocean beaches.
  13. Yeah. I wonder if they’ll sponsor us and give us freebies? The length of rod was the one recommended to me by my mate from BCF when he first showed me the spot and method for catching grassies and it certainly works. Can’t wait to try the new rod out on them.
  14. So finally bought my first live fibre rod. Hopefully it will serve me well. And hopefully it’s the right one for catching grassies, snapper etc. The identifiers on it are RLF 42/2 10’ 6 spin, cast 25g, sinker 1-40g, braid 8-15 lb
  15. You get pm’s? I dream of getting a pm.
  16. Someone else can have a go. I’m too lazy.
  17. Good report bro. You even used a couple of full stops too!
  18. Wow. The weather forecast for Sunday is even more depressing than all the other days! 50 knot squalls and 2 to 2.5 metre seas. Sigh.
  19. What happened to the quote at the bottom about you needing to get off the donut? Now my post doesn’t make sense. Not that they usually do anyway. But still!
